There is something very disturbing about looking at a face with “misplaced” parts, especially the eyes. Maybe it comes from being unable to see the feelings of the other person, from the fact that the mouth can lie far more easily. Perhaps our face-recognition algorithms are unable to handle this and cry out for help. Either way, it freaks me out a lot more than it should.
